Forte's Mission
A downloadable game for Windows
Back to planet Forté (from The Black Cube series' ASA: A Space Adventure). You are welcomed by the holographam of a mysterious man called Phil. He asks you to come talk to him in the levitating dome that can be seen over the island...
This short experience is better if you have already played ASA: A Space Adventure (available on Steam, FireFlower & itchio) to put a bit of context, but it is not a requirement.
This demo was initially made in 2022 as an early prototype for a game in development called Hexpatria, and released in private as a Patreon reward. It was made public in the end of 2023 to celebrate the 10 years of the Black Cube series, and submitted to the Black Cube Jam.
The full game Hexpatria is still in development and has evolved in many ways (art, gameplay, engine, etc), thus it will be completely different from this short demo intro.

!!! Print the mandatory PDF document !!!
(Print.pdf) - single page, A4 (21x29,7cm), black ink only, no need of color.
Don't use the document until it is clearly specified in the game.
Required tools: cissors, black pen, and day light or lamp
When you are ready, run Demo.EXE!

I really enjoyed it because it was set in a fun place to walk around that piqued my curiosity!
The use of PDFs to solve the riddles was also great as it gave me a sense of accomplishment and specialness when the riddles were solved.

I'm so happy that a Japanese player has finished my short game and enjoyed it. You did great at solving the puzzles!
Regarding the final puzzle: ideally, the different objets (butterflies, clocks, stars...) had to be colored in black, as indicated in the clue book. As a result, the answer appears much better when superimposing the images and placing them in the light.
But you found the 4 digits nevertheless, well done :)
If you are curious, Forte's Mission is taking place in the world of one of my previous games, ASA: A Space Adventure (Steam, itch.io...), that I created 10 years ago. Playing to ASA would give you many additional story pieces...

I had read the "Blackened, darkened" passage but had passed it by thinking it was flavor text. Now that I painted them black and let the light shine through them, I was impressed to see them clearly!
After playing this piece, I was interested in the "Black Cube series", but I will play "Zly.II - The Hacked Station" first!
